Where I Become a Crazy, Flailing Tween. Thanks JLA and Origin!

Ok, sorry. I just had to get that out of my system. *Phew* Seriously guys, this is the MOST INTENSE read, like EVER. First off, get ready for Daemon’s head. There are no words that can truly express the sheer joy and ecstasy that is being inside the mind of the galaxy’s sexiest alien. NO WORDS!  Just this:

faint gif photo: Faint faint.gif

Then of course there is the whole Kat is basically being held prisoner and Daemon has to save her,
so then came this:

faint gif photo: tumblr_ll54z8dK7T1qdpoaso1_400.gif

True fact: in all honesty, I was never into boy bands, nor did I understand the screaming girls. Until Now. JLA has reduced me to one of those crying, flailing, wannabe-tweens with the Lux series. And Origin just pushed me right over the edge into crazy territory. Seriously, this was me reading Origin:

This book is so heart-stopping wild from page one until the very last line, which will cause your brain to completely overload (see above). The lengths Daemon goes to to rescue Kat are mind-blowing. What the two of them have to endure is overwhelming. They are strong, but will they really get through this unscarred?

We meet some awesome new characters in the book, including my new fave Archer. When you learn Archer’s secret, just GAH! Every thing goes into free fall. Forget what you think happened to Dawson and Beth. You will NEVER guess what’s really going on. This is jaw-dropping news, so make sure you have a pillow nearby to cushion the fall. Then wait until you meet Micah. He is terrifyingly AWESOME!

Some old favorites also make significant re-appearances. I love seeing Luc again AND learning so much about him. I <3 you Luc. Paris returns, Nancy Husher and her cringe-worthy self is back, Sargeant Dasher will make you scream. And BLAKE…….Oh BLAKE….just…I can’t even go there. Blake's story made me do this:

faint gif photo: Faint tumblr_m06rylT6gG1qjuhqk.gif

I want to squeal about so many moments, but I don’t want to give away a thing. You have to experience it all. I will say that you will laugh, cry, scream, cringe, cry again, scream some more, and then just be left breathless. Forget a rollercoaster ride, ORIGIN is one ginormous free fall! Go forth and loose your lunch (in the most perfectly AMAZING way that is!).

Thank you Jennifer L. Armentrout for an EPIC (and I hate that word, but so appropriate) book!

So.....when's the next one coming out???

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?

One Night in the Spa by Kathy Lyons Blog Tour

One Night in the Spa
Kathy Lyons
Publisher: Entangled: Ever After
August 26, 2013
Print Length: 74 pages

What starts out as a simple massage treatment for spa manager David’s best friend Kim, turns into a night of seduction and sexual discovery.

Always relegated to the friend zone, David is determined to show Kim what she’s been missing…one erogenous zone at a time. Sure, their friendship is on the line. And sure, David’s hiding a motive larger than either him or Kim. But the second his hands touch her smooth skin, he just doesn’t care anymore.

Kim’s been so focused on the loss of her sports career that she’s had no time for romance or sex. But her response to David can’t be denied. Is it just that her body’s been missing out, or could her heart be involved too?

“So I’m trying to bulk up, but without…”

Kim Castillo tried not to strangle her client. He was a middle-aged bodybuilder, a man who’d spent thousands on personal training, and who was currently doing nothing more than asking her advice. It wasn’t his fault that she felt as though she was about to crawl out of her own skin. He was droning on about different supplements, shifting into poses to show off his progress.

Can you say midlife crisis? He was a jerk, but he paid well, and damn it, she couldn’t stop looking. Not just at his impressive pectorals, but at the guy doing squats a few feet away. There was an adolescent in the corner who had really nice calf muscles, and even the old guy near the cardio machines had broad shoulders. Old, young, athlete, or not—if the body was male, she was looking. And that made her absolutely insane.

That was her. Miss Ogle-the-Weight-Lifters.

It’s a medical condition, she reminded herself. There were fancy words for it, even a chart with hormone levels and the like, but it all boiled down to two words: super horny. Yup. That was her: twenty-four years old and suddenly a female horndog.

She ground her back teeth, trying to force herself to focus on her client. Besides, there was nothing new out there for her to see. She was no stranger to the male form. She’d practically grown up in various gyms around Chicagoland, she’d aced all her anatomy classes, and then she’d become a personal trainer while building a pro racquetball career. She knew bodies—male and female. And yet for some reason, completely out of the blue, she abruptly couldn’t stop staring at them.

“Kim? Kim, what do you think? Can you see a difference?” Frank Johnson struck another bodybuilder pose, flexing his pecs and bunching his abs. At some point, he’d pulled off his shirt just so he could show off for her. And damn it, he was impressive for a middle-aged guy with a wife, a mortgage, and three kids.

“Very nice,” she said, unable to keep the throaty purr from her voice. Where the hell had that come from? “But you need to put on your shirt. We’ve got a policy on that, and I am the manager here.”

“Oh. Right,” he said as he took his time getting dressed again. “Um, hey, I know you have brochures and stuff on the supplements the club recommends. Do you mind if we go grab a few?”

She blinked. “No problem. I’m sure Danni can—”

“But I want to go over them with you.” He flashed her a charming smile. “Do you mind? I’d really appreciate it.”

She blinked. It was against the rules to take a member upstairs to the office suite. The club was open until eleven, but the office suite closed at seven and it was now after nine. As manager here, she had to stick to the rules. “Tell you what, I’ll grab what we have and bring them down while you shower.”

He rubbed a hand over his head and looked rather charming, with the way his pecs bunched as he did it. “Come on, Kim. You’ve known me for years. I just want to talk to you about them.”

She looked at Frank, feeling jittery and lustful all at once. God, she was sick. She just wanted to get home so she could climb the walls there. But then her business mind kicked in. Yes, Frank was a jerk, but one who paid very well. And—bonus—if she made nice with him now, she could probably get him to sign up for the elite training and sports massage package. Sales were sluggish; her job here at John’s Fitness depended on that promotion going well. And all of that—the forms and the brochures—were upstairs.

“We just have to make it quick,” she said with a smile. “Follow me.” She breathed a sigh of relief as they left the main weight room. Her eyes had been roving so much, she’d given herself a headache.

Frank kept talking as she led him up the stairs. Kim tuned him out, her mind already churning over ways to blow off steam. Maybe a sauna. Her knee injury meant she couldn’t exercise except for yoga, and frankly, turning herself into a pretzel hadn’t worked for her.

She unlocked the door to the office suite, flipping on the light as she went to the bank of filing cabinets. Beyond her were the offices—hers included—completely dark at this late hour. Frank was following a step behind her, gabbing all the way. But at his first pause for breath, she went into her sales pitch.

“You know about the spa attached to the club, right? Pamper Me Spa. Have you thought about our new fitness massage package? It’s perfect for elite athletes like— Ump!

Suddenly, Frank had shoved her up against the filing cabinet so hard the breath was knocked from her lungs. Then before she could do more than gasp, he had flattened himself along her back. His hands turned into tentacles, groping her everywhere while his erection started shoving rhythmically against her butt.

She couldn’t believe how fast it happened. One second, elite athletics, the next—pinned.

“Frank! Stop!”

“Yeah, baby, show me how you like it,” he groaned in her ear.

WTF? Fury pounded in her ears, and she started to move on reflex. She slammed backward with her elbow and stomped hard with one foot. But she was flattened, and worse, he had about a hundred pounds on her. She had little leverage and he was just too damned big.

She was just gathering breath for a really good scream when suddenly, the bastard was off her. She barely registered an umph of sound before she was staggering backward, abruptly free of the asshole.

She stumbled then caught herself, her knee suddenly blossoming in pain. She ignored it. Spinning around, she watched in stunned surprise as…

My Review:
Facial, Foreplay, and some Funny Business After Hours

I thought this was a really fun, steamy read. Kim is a tough cookie and David is the hottest spa manager I've even seen. The interactions between the two are light and humorous. It's the classic best friends but we really want more relationship. And thanks to Kim giving up her wild work-out schedule due to an injury, she's finally hit puberty (yes, you heard that right) and her hormones are raging.

I couldn't stop laughing at the puberty conversation between Kim and David. It was awkward, humiliating, and hysterical. And the fact that Kim suddenly wants to jump ANY man's bones (size, shape, age, personality, be darned!) is just BAWHAWHAHAHA. At least she recognizes the problem. Admitting her weakness is the first step.

So how do you handle such wild hormones? You "de-stress" at the spa. Only David has other plans for Kim's special visit. Let's just say he offers her the "Friday Night Full Service Special" wink-wink. And Kim is all in. Like.....really all in. I will never look at a spa the same way again.

Too bad Kim's high is short-lived since David has been planning to steal her business out from under her. What? Was it all a part of the plan? Did David seduce Kim just to get her guard down so he can swoop in and leave her unemployed? You'll have to read to find that out.

This is a cute and sexy read. Kim and David are fun characters to watch. There's a little bit of romance, a lot of smexy, and a subtle mystery involving some corporate espionage. What more can you ask for?

Feature and Follow Friday

Check out Parajunkee & Alison Can Read for more information on this Friday blog hop and to sign up and join the fun.

This week a question:

If you could only have ONE – one book – for the rest of your life. Don’t cheat…what would it be?

Oooooo, tough question. Can it be a series??? That would be easy then, Harry Potter! I could read that one over and over a million times. Or maybe the Lux series by JLA, or even the Covenant series. Oh, decisions, decisions, decisions. I honestly can't decide on this one. I can't pick just ONE book. Since I can't choose an entire series I guess I will have to go with:

It's really long and I could take my time and examine each and every line. Fun huh?

So what would you choose?

He gave me a sad smile. "I'm not a monk, Kate. If you kiss me...I can't stop there."
His words probably had the opposite effect to what he wanted. It spurred me on, because now I knew he was on the brink of giving in. On the brink of falling into the abyss with me.
I touched his face. His jaw was rough from his stubble. A small muscle pulsed against my fingers.
"Kate, please," he whispered. But he didn't pull away. Didn't stop me getting closer.
I stroked his lower lip with my thumb, and he groaned deep in his chest.
"Ben," I murmured.
He brushed my hair off my shoulder. His fingers caressed my neck, sending tiny tingles racing down my spine. My heart hammered against my ribs to the tune of kiss me, kiss me, kiss me. I wanted this man. Wanted to know him intimately.
My head told me it was impossible that I could feel this way after such a short time, but my heart was ignoring it, lost in a mad, chaotic rhythm of its own.
Ben's hand cupped my hip, his other pressed against my back. It was all the encouragement I needed. I closed the final small gap between us until I was crushed against his body. It was hard and ridged, warm.
Our lips met in a kiss that turned my legs to jelly. My knees buckled, but Ben's arms circled my waist. He held me there, firm yet gentle, like I was something precious. I felt dizzy and weightless. The world spun one way and I the other, out of control. I didn't care. It was exactly what I wanted to feel. Exactly how I'd always imagined a kiss should feel.
Yet I wanted more. The kiss filled me with longing that clawed at my heart. It wasn't enough. Not nearly enough.

CHAOS by Christine O’Neil

My name is Maggie Raynard. After sixteen years being just plain me, suddenly I can kill people when I lose my temper. Turns out I'm a semi-god, descended from Aphrodite. Sounds cool in theory, but when I accidentally put my ex-boyfriend in a coma, things go downhill pretty fast.

Now some new guy named Mac Finnegan has made it his mission in life to continually piss me off. I'm stuck learning how to use my new powers while also dealing with regular high school problems, and with this---annoying and super-hot---guy all up in my business, I'm about to flip out.

But it gets worse. I just learned there's this council for semis that wants me dead. They think I'm bad to the bone and when my ex suddenly dies, it's like everyone is determined to take me out. Mac might turn out to be my only salvation, but he's got secrets of his own---that may just kill us both.

Life, Love, & Lemons by Magan Vernon
Publication date: August 20th 2013
Genre: YA Contemporary

When life hands you lemons, sometimes you have to say screw the lemons and bail.

Seventeen-year-old Bentley Evans had it all. Then her Dad got laid off.

Now she has to move across town to a small apartment and leave her life of luxury for public school and a job at the local burger place. Just when her world seems like it's crumbling she finds solace in the unlikely punk boy next door, Kai Stone. But as their relationship blossoms, a jealous ex-girlfriend and a secret to tell that threatens to bring disaster back into Bentley’s life.

"You know I'm pretty sure that all that's involved in high school dancing is just dry humping and swaying back and forth," I said as Kai helped me move my parent's couch back.

"Well, I don't want to dry hump or just sway back and forth," he said with a big grin on his face before setting the couch down.

"We don't have to do this right now either. It's a Sunday morning and all." I walked over to the front of the couch, not taking my eyes off of him.

"Homecoming is Saturday, and the only dance I know is the Hokey Pokey." He shrugged

"Besides Mom and my sisters are at small group and your parents can sleep through anything, so why not now?"

"Okay." I let out a deep breath and opened my computer. "But you really didn't take any kind of dance classes? I had ballroom dancing freshman year in gym."

"Bentley, I've gone to public school all of my life. The only dance we ever learned was line dancing when I was in grade school up in Wisconsin, and I'm not doing that at Homecoming."

He laughed.

I started up the song and set my laptop down and stepped in front of Kai, putting my right hand up toward him. “I definitely don’t think there will be line dancing at Homecoming,” I said, putting my hand in his.

“And you make fun of my music?” Kai asked as the song crooned through the speakers on my laptop. I put Kai’s right hand on my hip, and then placed my left hand on his upper arm.

“This is Sinatra, I really don’t think there is anything to be making fun of, and besides I don’t think we could really do ballroom dancing to punk rock.”

“I’m sure we could try." He smiled and kissed my forehead.

I rolled my eyes. “Okay,  now that we have the arm position it’s time to move our feet, and if you step on my bare feet I am going to punch you.”

He playfully hovered his foot over mine, so I pinched his arm. “If you don’t behave then I’m switching the music to country.”

He let out a big sarcastic sigh. “Fine.”

“Okay, so left foot then right foot then together,” I said as we moved in unison.

“Then right foot goes back and then the left foot meets it.”

We moved together doing a few box steps. It felt kind of silly to be dancing in my pajamas in the living room.

“You know, I really don’t think that anyone is going to be doing the waltz at Homecoming,” I muttered

I looked up to see him mouthing ‘left, right, together’.

“Well what do people usually do then?" He looked down at me and stopped mouthing the words.

The Sinatra song ended and a slower punk rock song played, one that Kai had actually put on my computer.

“Usually…" I put both my arms around his neck. “It’s kind of more of a close, swaying motion.”

“Oh." He wrapped his long arms around my waist and pulled me as close as I think two people can get when one was over six foot and the other was barely over five foot three.

“Like this?" He swayed slowly back and forth.

“Usually it’s not some sort of a giant dancing with a midget.” I laughed.

“Fine then." He bent at his knees and picked me up off of the ground, so that my legs were dangling in the air while he continued to sway back and forth. “Is that better, shorty?”

I wrapped my bare legs around his waist. “Now it is."

I leaned in and ran my tongue along his bottom lip, tracing the lines of his lip ring.

“I don’t think that’s part of the waltz." He smiled and pressed his forehead to mine.

“It is now." I kissed him, pretty hard, since he fell back into the couch with me still in his arms.

Maybe I should have taken him up on the night alone instead of Homecoming. It felt so good to just be in his arms, and the kissing wasn’t so bad either. I could forget about the world every time that Kai kissed me. It was like his lip piercing had some kind of magical powers that just made all my problems disappear as long as we were kissing.
