Resisting the Hero by Cindi Madsen

Resisting her brother’s best friend is futile…

Faith Fitzpatrick isn’t looking for a hero. Burned one too many times in the past, she’s now sworn them off completely. And when her brother’s best friend, Connor, convinces him to join the dangerous SWAT team, Faith has never been more anti-hero. What’s wrong with having a safe job? There’s nothing safe about Connor. Confident, sexy, and sporting a six-pack that should be illegal, he’s everything she doesn’t want.

When his best friend’s sister moves to town, local cop Connor Maguire knows he’s in trouble. Faith is feisty, funny, and talks trash like nobody’s business. She’s also his partner’s sister—and so totally off limits. Working on the Fall Festival together, they agree to a truce and become friends. But the more time Connor spends with Faith, the more he’s willing to risk the wrath of her brother. If he could only convince her to take a risk on him, too.

About Cindi

Cindi Madsen sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children. She is the author of YA novels All the Broken Pieces and Demons of the Sun, adult contemporary romances Falling for Her FiancĂ© and Act Like You love Me, and the women's fiction novel Cinderella Screwed Me Over.

Seven Day Fiance by Rachel Harris Review

ARE YOU READY FOR CANE????

Seven Day FiancĂ© (Love and Games #2)
Release Date: 10/14/13
Entangled Bliss

Summary from Goodreads:

Angelle Prejean is in a pickle. Her family is expecting her to come home with a fiancĂ©—a fiancĂ© who doesn’t exist. Well, he exists, but he definitely has no idea Angelle told her mama they were engaged. Tattooed, muscled, and hotter than sin, Cane can reduce Angelle to a hot mess with one look—and leave her heart a mess if she falls for him. But when she ends up winning Cane at a charity bachelor auction, she knows just how to solve her fiancĂ© problem.

Cane Robicheaux is no one’s prince. He doesn’t do relationships and he doesn’t fall in love. When sweet, sultry-voiced Angelle propositions him, he hopes their little game can finally get her out of his head. He doesn’t expect her to break through all his barriers. But even as Angelle burrows deeper into his heart, he knows once their seven days are up, so is their ruse.

Jennifer's Review:

I loved the first book in this series, Taste the Heat, but I loved this one even more. I loved Cane's character in that book so I was very excited to see that she gave him his very own book... he totally deserved one :-) Yes it's the second book, but it can absolutely be read as a stand alone if you wanted too -- I would recommend reading "Taste the Heat" at some point though. You will see previous characters, but will be introduced to a whole slew of new ones.

Cane Robichaux isn’t the settling down kind of guy. If you read book 1 you know he’s Colby’s brother and he runs the family restaurant… he’s a closet nerd, but a smoking hot one with his tattoos and a motorcycle. This book is told in both Angelle and Cane's POV -- a quality that I love -- and I did love getting some perspective into Cane's thoughts in this book. WOW!

Angelle is the new girl. Working for the fire department with Jason -- Colby's fiancĂ©/Cane's best friend, she has moved to Magnolia Springs to escape the expectations of her hometown/family and a fiancĂ© that just wasn't "her one and only".She did get a bit of a "bad rep" in "Taste the Heat" and I found myself hesitating in liking her at the beginning of this book but as her story unfolds and you see that she is a great girl and has built a solid friendship with Sherry and Colby (main characters from "Taste the Heat" and Cane's sisters). The Robicheaux sisters have become like family to Angelle and with their stamp of approval I pressed forward and really liked Angelle's character. :-) Angelle is shy, quiet, independent and sweet with just a touch of fire within her. She does a great job as MC in this book and is a character you want to have as a best friend in real life.

Throw these two together and you have some serious chemistry! And Rachel does that chemistry very well. The story kicks off with Cane participating in a charity auction and Angelle ends up bidding on him! Much to her own surprise and his :-)

So Angelle has a reason for bidding on Cane -- she has sort of already told her family she is engaged to Cane (to get them off her back about leaving her town and breaking up with her fiancĂ©), so she asks him to go home with her and pose as her fiancĂ© for thanksgiving week. Cane jumps at the chance --taking Angelle by surprise as thought she would have to convince him and taking himself by surprise as well.

The story twists and turns from here on out. The backdrop of Angelle's loving but overprotecting and somewhat smothering family and the beautiful flavor of a small town of Louisiana -- with its traditions and family values is great -- Rachel does a create job with it and it really adds to the overall book.

Rachel's books are great - I have to say I loved Tale of Two Centuries and My super sweet 16th century. This plot was cute & fun, the characters were amazing (Loved CANE), and her writing brings its all home. Its a fast and light read. I can't say I am a Cajun food lover but the way she writes makes you feel like you are right there in the Cajun Bayou with the characters and has you wishing you had some Creole food and a beer to dive into. It takes a good writer to make the reader feel like you are right in step with the characters.

About the Author
I grew up in New Orleans, where I watched soap operas with my grandmother and stayed up late sneak reading my mama’s favorite romance novels. Now a Cajun cowgirl living in Houston, I still stay up way too late reading my favorite romances, only now, I can do so openly. I firmly believe life’s problems can be solved with a hot, powdered-sugar-coated beignet or a thick slice of king cake, and that screaming at strangers for cheap, plastic beads is acceptable behavior in certain situations.

When not typing furiously or flipping pages in an enthralling romance, I homeschool my two beautiful girls and watch reality television with my amazing husband.

I write YA, NA, and Adult Fun & Flirty Escapes. Taste The Heat is my adult romance debut, and I'm also the author of MY SUPER SWEET SIXTEENTH CENTURY and A TALE OF TWO CENTURIES, as well as a ton of other books to come. I love hearing from readers and dishing books!

5. I love the sweetness
6. I love the men

8. I love the men
9. I love the passion
10. I love the men!

I recently went on a one-click Amazon buying spree and filled my Kindle with every Bliss book I hadn't yet read. I have so many favorites since I love every one I read. They are the perfect pick-me-up, feel-good stories. Great for a beach read, lounging by the pool, or relaxing before you fall asleep. While I love them all, here are some of my more recent favorites:

Why do I love this story? Firefighters, New Orleans, and Spicy Food!
You can check out my full review of this fabulous story HERE.
I adore Jason Landry and Colby Robicheaux. And I have to include a picture of my own personal
Jason Landry:

Jason can pull me from a burning building anytime!

I also adore his BFF Cane (who I might add is getting his own book!). Cane is sexy and I can't wait to read his story. Here's how I see Cane:

But.....then Rachel posted this lovely picture for the Flirt Squad that made me go Hmmmmm:

So now I'm torn. I <3 Channing, but Cane #2 is just, yeah!

Another favorite of mine is

I love a good taboo workplace romance. What makes this one even better is how much Eve Doucette despises and it threatened by the gorgeous Matt Brison. How these two really thought they wouldn't hook up was beyond me ;)

For the record, here is my Matt:

Yeah, he can totally be my boss any day!

One more of my recent faves is

A jilted bride, the groom coming home to marry someone else, and the sexy playboy she blames for the breakup? Yup, that's a story I have to read!

And here is my Nate (YUM):

*sigh*

Here are a few more Bliss Books I absolutely adore:

Bliss Books are perfect Happily Ever Afters that make you swoon, *sigh*, and smile!

Review-Taste The Heat by Rachel Harris

Taste the Heat by Rachel Harris
Entangled Bliss
July 8, 2013

From Goodreads:

One sexy fire captain. One Cajun chef, One combustible kitchen…

When chef Colby Robicheaux returned home to
New Orleans to save her family restaurant, the last person she expected to reconnect with was her brother’s best friend and her childhood crush. As tempting as a sugar-coated beignet, Jason is one dish she doesn’t want to taste. Colby is counting down the days till she can leave the place where her distrust of love and commitment originated and go back to Vegas.

Fire captain Jason Landry isn’t looking for love, either. He knows he should focus on finding the perfect mother for his daughter, but when he first sees Colby, all grown up and gorgeous, he can’t help but be drawn to her. And when she suggests a no-strings-attached fling, Jason doesn’t want to say no.

As their relationship grows more intense, Colby finds that Jason isn’t as easy to leave behind as she thought. Could turning up the heat on something real be worth the possibility of getting burned?

My Review:
Spicy Food, a Sensual Setting, and one Sexy Firefighter!

Three of my favorite things: firemen, good food, and hot romance. So what’s not to love about this book? Jason Landry is my hero. I mean, he’s a fireman, he can cook, and he’s the most amazing father. Not to mention, listening to him talk about the wife he lost just breaks your heart. How can you not love him? He really deserves someone so amazing, so loving, and so ready to be a role model to his adorable daughter, Emma.

Enter Colby Robicheaux. She’s been in love with Jason since she knew what the word meant. He lit up every page in her diary. Of course, since he was best friends with her older brother, she was just like a little sister to him. But little sis is all grown up and beautiful. Her heart might not be available, but her fantasies about Jason are sill alive and well.

They agree to give in to the attraction, no strings attached of course. Why not? No commitment since Colby only returned home to help get the family restaurant back in gear after their father died. Only what starts out as some spicy heat quickly turns in to so much more. They bond over the losses they’ve experienced, food, and Jason’s amazing daughter (Emma is fantastic!).

The story is just so real. My heart broke when Jason told Colby about his wife. It is such a horrific story and you really understand where he’s coming from. And Colby hasn’t had much luck in love herself. A bad ending to a first love and one secret she’s kept for years have hardened her heart.

I really loved watching the two evolve throughout the book. The relationship goes through some ups and downs and you will feel every one of them. But you will genuinely root for the two to open their eyes to the amazing thing right in front of them.

Lovable characters, a sensual setting, and some spicy cooking make this book a must read!

My Three Favorite Scenes:

1.  The moment Jason realizes who Colby is (after some hot flirting mind you).
2.  The drugstore scene. You just have to read it. HINT: Think feminine protection LOL.
3.  The AMAZING date Jason plans....and the chocolate body paint for dessert *sigh*

I thought I'd share my thoughts on who I think would make an AMAZING Jason:

If you've already read the book, who do you see as Jason? If you haven't read it yet:  see above, pick up book now, and enjoy :)

Oh, and as an added bonus......the sexy-tattoo hottie Cane is getting his own book!  Ahhhh! Who is Cane you ask? Well, read the book to find out. But after some serious debate, here is my Cane:

Oh, to see Channing with some glorious tattoos! A girl can dream. Until then, I'm counting down the days till book 2!

As a teen, Rachel Harris threw raging parties that shook her parents’ walls and created embarrassing fodder for future YA novels. As an adult, she reads and writes obsessively, rehashes said embarrassing fodder, and dreams up characters who become her own grown up version of imaginary friends.

She grew up in New Orleans, watching soap operas with her grandmother and staying up late sneak reading her mam's favorite romance novels. Now a Cajun cowgirl living in Houston, she still stays up too late reading her favorite romances, only now, she can do so openly. She firmly believes life's problems can be solved with a hot, powdered-sugar-coated beignet or a thick slice of king cake, and that screaming at strangers for cheap, plastic beads is acceptable behavior in certain situations.

She homeschools her two beautiful girls and loves watching reality television with her amazing husband. She writes young adult, new adult, and adult Fun, Flirty Escapes, and LOVES talking with readers!
