Feature & Follow Friday

Check out Parajunkee & Alison Can Read for more information on this Friday blog hop and to sign up and join the fun.

This week a question.
If you could read a book for the “first time” again, which book would it be? Why?

Oooo this is a tough one. There are so many books I wish I could read all over again as if it were the first time. But I think I may have to go with *gasp* Twilight.

I know, I know this one either elicits a collective groan or sigh. BUT all it's faults, this book opened my eyes to the YA genre. Prior to reading it, I stuck to the romance, general fiction, chit-lit books. But I do wonder sometimes if I hadn't read Twilight, would I have read so many other amazing books that came after? And whatever, I admit it. I just loved Edward and Bella's story. Sure she irritated me and he was a bit stalkerish, but it stirred emotions and honestly, isn't that what a good book does?

Happy Friday all and Stay Gold!

    1. It's not the best written book out there, but it will always hold a special place in my heart for opening my eyes to all things YA ;)

  3. Regardless of my opiion of twilight, it did introduce YA to a whole new group of people! New GFC follower here. It would be brilliant if you could return the favor. Have a nice weekend!

    1. I guess that's my point. No it isn't the best book out there, BUT it opened my eyes to a genre I totally adore now and I've read many flippin' fantastic books because of it. Although I have to admit, I did adore Edward ;)

  4. Promise not to groan! ;)

I was itching for paranormal reads long before Twilight. And back then, they were hard to find in YA, so I had to leave the YA section for awhile. Little did I know a few years later that Paranormal YA was about to be born! Glad to have rediscovered that genre myself! Starting to think I might have more YA books then adult these days!

  5. I agree with you that a book must stir some emotion in you regardless of exactly what sort of emotion it is, that's sort of the point of book isn't it? Nice book choice!

    1. Lol yes it is. In this case it was turning me on to a genre I didn't frequent very often. And what can I say, as stalkerish as he was I did like Edward.

  7. Twilight is quite popular today. I haven't read the book and didn't really get into the movies, but I hear the writing's much better to dabble in so one day I'll give the books a try. Thanks for sharing :)

    Happy Friday!

    1. I watched the movie first, never jumping on the Twilight bandwagon. I did not like it at all, nor did I get it. So I finally gave in a read the book. I loved the first one. It will just always hold a special place in my heart ;)

  8. I really liked this book when I first read it too! Sure, the movies were amazing, but that didn't take away from the book too much. Great choice!

  10. I don't enjoy Twilight, but I understand how you can get attached to the book that opens you to a new genre. I have a few like that myself.

    1. If nothing else, it totally opened up the YA genre to a HUGE market. So anyone YA should enjoy that ;)

  13. That's actually a really great point. No matter what I think about it now (I'm no hater, but it's no top ten), it was the first I'd read in the genre. Twilight opened me up to reading outside realistic fiction, and now I read more paranormal, actually.
