Real Men Wear Kilts! Catching Liam by Sophia Bleu

Catching Liam by Sophia Bleu
June 25, 2013

From Goodreads:
Twenty-one year-old Jillian Nichols only has one rule when it comes to boys: catch and release. Boy-catching isn't just a game for Jillian and her friends, it's a lifestyle. After all, boys might be good for a dance or a drink and certainly a little under-cover action of the scandalous variety, but expect much else and you're bound for heart ache.

So when her best friends and fellow boy catchers start dropping like flies junior year, Jillian is determined to keep boys in her bedroom and out of her heart. Until she meets Liam McAvoy, the kind of guy that sticks around to make waffles and who can't—or perhaps won't—take a hint.

Study abroad student Liam doesn't want to be another notch on Jillian's bedpost. Actually he has much more interesting ideas for Jillian and her bedposts, but his student visa's set expiration date means he can't promise her forever. That doesn't mean he's going to walk away from the challenge of discovering why Jillian is hell-bent at keeping people at a distance.

Before long, neither is sure who is catching who—or if they're playing for keeps. Jillian knows one thing though: falling in love will not only break the only rule of boy-catching, it could also break her heart

My Review:
Real Men Wear Kilts! (That's What She Said!)

A hot, sexy, endearing, WILD RIDE!

So I’m just going to come out and say it. This book is Flipping Amazing! It is one giant roller coaster ride and I lived for every free fall, twist, turn, dip, hard right, you name it. I laughed, cringed, swooned, fanned myself, snorted some water at my Kindle through my nose, and balled my eyes out (and repeated the cycle several times). It’s been a while since ONE book has made me do all of that. Needless to say, Sophia Bleu has found herself a new fangirl. I NEED to read Teaching Liam!

First off, I love every single character in this book. I envy the friendship between Jillian, Jess, and Cassie. They go through the typical ups and downs and bailing on each other for boys, but they always come back to each other. And they always take care of each other. I want friends like that. I mean uncovering just how much Jess does for Jillian is heartbreaking in the most amazing way. Anyone lucky enough to have a Jess in their life should thank the stars for such a blessing.

And Jillian? Just wow. What a tough cookie. My heart broke for her. As if living with the secret she tries to keep buried deep isn’t hard enough, dealing with her mother is just unfair. And yet there is a side of me that almost understands her mother, almost feels sorry for her. Unable to deal with Jillian’s problem” she lashes out at the poor girl, tries to control her, and lets her anger loose on the one person that shouldn’t ever have to see it. But Jillian finds her strength and finally stands up to her mom. Watching Jillian take control of her life and her decisions is such a powerful moment. Go Jillian!

Then there’s Liam. First off…Scottish accent. Second….naked cooking. Third….chicken. Fourth…..naked cooking. Wait, did I already say that? Anyway, Liam is amazing. Watching him pursue Jillian is a fun, sexy, wild ride. He just won’t take no for an answer (be thankful Jillian). I’m pretty sure there isn’t a woman on the planet that could say no to Liam. Man to see him in a kilt. Especially after learning “why” Scottish men wear them. Wowzers!

I don’t want to give too much away about the story. You have to read it and experience it yourself. But be prepared for a crazy and thoroughly emotional journey. I am exhausted. I read it in one sitting it was so amazing. If you are looking for an emotional, flirty, sexy romance this is your book!

On a side note, I loved the intro to Professor Roman. I can’t wait to see Jess dump her boring boyfriend and get hot for teacher in Teaching Roman! I also hope we get to see more of Cassie. I know there is a whole lot more to her than being a bit flakey for a boy who obviously doesn’t deserve her attention. And the tattoo? Is she nuts? Love these characters and anxiously await more!

P.S.A

Sophia Bleu is a secret identity where I can write about fantasies and falling in love and all the smexiness in between.  By day, I'm a Young Adult science fiction writer.   In real life, I'm likely catching a plane, chasing kids, or making out with the love of my life—all 6 ft 3 inches of hotness that he is. Life is pretty good.

I love chatting with readers, so please take a sec and follow me on Twitter or Facebook.  I rarely bite, unless you like that kind of thing—and well, who doesn't?

    1. I just loved this book. I've been on a paranormal/fatasy kick and it was nice to read something contemporary again. And I loved the college setting. Such a fun time in life.
