I won a copy of Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris back when it first came out. I instantly fell in love with Janelle and Ben. I shared the book with both my niece and nephew and all three of us have been anticipating getting our hands on a copy of the follow up- Unbreakable.

Somebody from an alternate universe is running a human trafficking
ring, kidnapping people and selling them on different Earths—and Ben is the
prime suspect. Now his family has been imprisoned and will be executed if Ben
doesn’t turn himself over within five days.
And when Janelle learns that someone she
cares about—someone from her own world—has become one of the missing, she knows
that she has to help Barclay, regardless of the danger. Now Janelle has five
days to track down the real culprit. Five days to locate the missing people
before they’re lost forever. Five days to reunite with the boy who stole her
heart. But as the clues begin to add up, Janelle realizes that she’s in way
over her head—and that she may not have known Ben as well as she thought. Can she uncover the truth before everyone she cares
about is killed?
My Review
I won a copy of Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris back when it first came out. I instantly fell in love with Janelle and Ben. I shared the book with both my niece and nephew and all three of us have been anticipating getting our hands on a copy of the follow up- Unbreakable.
This book does not disappoint. Janelle is still an
incredibly tough heroine; this girl doesn’t need to be saved. She doesn’t sit
around and mope or crawl into a hole when the love of her life leaves. She’s
too awesome for that. But Ben will always try save her any way. Technically
they constantly try to save each other. I love that. I love the sacrifices they
make for each other, the way they always want to keep the other out of harm’s
way.
Unbreakable picks up not long after Ben went home. Janelle’s
trying to go on with her life in the broken world she now lives in with the help of
Cecily, Struz, and Jared. Cecily is such a wonderful supporting character,
taking on the “mom” type roll. I swear her motto is to always see the silver
lining. But obviously taking care of everyone else is how she keeps going.
She’s such a complex girl, but so genuine you just love her.
The entire story takes place over just a few days and it is
action packed. I could never find a place to take a break so I read the entire
novel in a day. Yes a day. It was that exciting. The moment Janelle takes off
with Barclay it is edge of your seat stuff. So remember, get something to eat
or take your bathroom break the moment she agrees to help Barclay.
Speaking of everyone’s favorite Interverse Agent, Liz Norris
somehow made me fall in love with the guy. How is that even possible? Taylor
Barclay is supposed to be the guy you love to hate, but in Unbreakable he’s the guy you love to love. And the “gift” he gives
Janelle, priceless.
There are so many things about this book that make it an enjoyable read. It’s fast-paced, full of amazing characters with great interactions
(the Elijah/Janelle relationship is a hoot), and it's just plain fun. The only thing
I wish? That the series was a trilogy! Or maybe the new adventures of Janelle
and Ben in the IA? A girl can dream right?
