Angie Stanton's ROYALLY LOST blog tour!

Title: Royally Lost

Author: Angie Stanton

Publisher: Harper Collins

Publication Date: May 6, 2014
Summary: Dragged on a family trip to Europe’s ancient cities, Becca wants nothing more than to go home. Trapped with her emotionally distant father, over-eager stepmother, and a brother who only wants to hook up with European hotties, Becca is miserable. That is until she meets Nikolai, a guy as mysterious as he is handsome. And she unknowingly finds herself with a runaway prince.

Nikolai has everything a guy could ask for-he's crown prince, heir to the throne, and girls adore him. But the one thing he doesn't have...is freedom. Staging a coup, he flees his kingdom and goes undercover on his own European tour.

When Nikolai and Becca meet, it’s their differences that draw them together. Sparks fly as they share a whirlwind of adventures, all the while dodging his royal guard. But Becca's family vacation ends in a matter of days. Will Nikolai and Becca be forced to say goodbye forever, will his destiny catch up to him, or will they change history forever?

Jennifer's Review:

This is a fun, light, relaxing read. The author's details to the setting really brought it to life. The romance is cliché at times but it was fun to read. I personally like a Happy Ever After ending and this delivered :-)

The Characters:

Nikolai --- the Prince of Mondovia who is sick of being a prince. He challenges the way its always been in his country and even questions the idea of a royal family who just lives off the people. He decides to run away to clear his head and escape Palace life.
Becca  -- College bound who is taking summer vacation with her family -- a river cruise in Europe. She doesn’t really want to be on this vacation with her "perfect" family and that is very clear (maybe too clear). Her family is her father who is a workaholic, her step- mother, and her brother. Even though her step-mother is nice and wants to pull the family together, and her father is trying to spend time with them Becca resents them. As a result, Becca takes every opportunity to ditch her parents and explore on her own.  Ultimately Becca is searching for a future that is not determined by her father. By the end of the book Becca's character experiences a well needed growth. She finds herself and figures out what she really wants in life.
Dylan - Becca's brother. We don't get much into Dylan but what we do see was very realistic for a sister/brother bond.

Becca and Nikoli meet by chance. Can Nikolai and Becca’s relationship last? Can they outrun the paparazzi and Nikolai's fathers' men? The book takes you through a trip across Europe through the eyes of Becca.

This was a light, feel good romance, insta love, easy read, which totally reminded me of ‘The Lizzie Maguire Movie’ except insert prince instead of pop star. The journey through Europe is an authentic one and that was refreshing account. Stanton provides plenty of historical background to the countries and landmarks that the characters travel through.

What I didn't like -- As a lover of traveling and especially Europe I thought Becca complained about being on vacation in Europe a little too much. I think it was supposed to reflect that she didn't want to be on a vacation with her parents but it really came off a bit spoiled that was annoyed that she has to experience culture, beauty, and history.

The story is very open - ended and maybe that's an opening to a second book? I felt as if this story had the potential to be a much better novel than it was -- with more depth and resolution. It's a story of growing up -- and while there was growth to the characters throughout the book just not as much as I expected or could of been.

I just wanted to give you one more link that you can include with your posts. Angie is offering signed copies of ROYALLY LOST via the indie bookstore near her, and they are doing online orders (yay)! If you could mention that in your posts and link to them that would be totally awesome.

About Angie: Angie Stanton never planned on writing books; she wanted to be a Rockette. However, growing up in rural Wisconsin, with her brothers' 4-H pigs as pets, dance didn't work out. Instead she became an avid daydreamer. After years of perfecting stories in her head, she began to write them down, and the rest is history.

Angie is the author of six books including Royally Lost, Rock and a Hard Place, and Snapshot. She graduated with a Journalism degree from the University of Wisconsin, and is a proud double finalist of the National Readers Choice Awards for Love 'em or Leave 'em.
