What Endures by Katie Lee Blog Tour

What Endures
Release Date: August 1st, 2013
Contemporary New Adult

Summary from Goodreads:

Jason Kincaid is young, hot and successful.
An All-Star outfielder for the Seattle Mariners, he finally had everything he ever wanted, including a second chance with his high school sweetheart, Megan Williams.
But their hopes for a ‘happily-ever-after’ are dashed by tragedy.

A horrific car accident wipes out most of Jason's memories. Unable to recall anything from the last fifteen years of his life, Jason is suddenly adrift, his once charmed life now in ruins.
Megan finds herself in the untenable position of having to deal with the fact that the man she’s helping to rebuild his life may look, and even act, like her beloved fiancĂ©, but in reality, isn’t any longer.

Trying to protect herself, as well as Jason, Megan fights the attraction between them. . .to no avail. As their potent connection inevitably draws them closer, Megan wonders,

With the memories of their relationship gone, can love endure?

Meredith's Review:
Lost Memories, Forgotten Love, but Hope for the Future

I was pleasantly surprised with this book. When I read the premise I was intrigued, but then wondered if it would be like another I've read on this subject. It wasn't. Jason and Megan have their own story to tell and the way they handle the cards they've been dealt is an emotional and heart wrenching journey.

I just loved Jason and Megan. And there is nothing better than falling in love with the main characters in a book. My heart broke for both of them, although there were times when Megan infuriated me. While she probably thought she was being a martyr, I thought she was really being a coward. The love of her life lost all of his memories of her, but rather than try to start over or remind him of their love, she chose to guard her heart to avoid the pain of being rejected. It drove me crazy. She needed to fight for their love even if Jason couldn't return it in the end. At least then she would have always known that she didn't let him go without a fight.

Jason's story crushed me. Not only did he lose fifteen years of memories, but he woke up back in the some of the worst. He didn't remember making amends with the step-brother he once loathed. He's alone and lost and having trouble trying to sort things out.

This story really churned my emotions. What would you do if the love of your life suddenly didn't remember you? Would you walk away and let him/her move on or would you fight? What if you woke up into a life you didn't remember? I can only imagine how suffocating that would feel. Almost as if someone else planned out your life for you and all of your choices were stolen.

What Endures is an emotional journey that will touch your heart. You will root for Megan and Jason to find each other again. The ending will floor you and the unexpected moments that get you there will wring your heart out and fill it again with joy. Will Megan and Jason find their way back to each other? Can their love endure the loss of Jason's memories? You will have to read the book to find out.

    1. I've read quite a few good ones if you need recommendations! It's definitely a genre that has a wide range of stories and content. But there are definitely some real gems out there!

    1. Age mostly. It's that in between not being a teenager anymore, but not quite yet a full on adult. The "college" years. So some stories lean towards the wild side, others still have some of the angst from the teen years. I like the stories that focus on the new experiences at this age (freedom, independence, failures and ramifications, etc). I will say the NA genre is very wide ranging in romantic elements. Some are YAish with closed doors, others are more like adult romance. Always here if you need a good recommendation. I've read a lot of NA lately ;)

    1. If you read/or saw the movie The Vow, it's got the same emotional impact just from a different perspective. The characters handle things differently.

    1. I enjoyed the added element of Jason's career. So much at stake and so much lost. His reactions are the most intriguing (in my opinion anyway).
