Heavenly Hell by Aria Williams
Publication ate: April 24, 2013

From Goodreads:

You'd think being stuck in the body of a beautiful seventeen year old girl forever would be a gift. But when you are fallen, it is more like a curse.

Indiana was a beautiful angel, enjoying the perks of Heaven, until she was tricked by a demon to fall in love with him. She was forced to fall from Heaven and remain in her seventeen year old form, banished to Earth, for all of eternity.

Now, unable to cope with her banishment, she is a seemingly normal seventeen year old girl by day, while she spends her nights punishing men for the wrongs they have committed against women.

Although Indiana has lived on Earth for thousands of years, she recently settled into a small town, where she has finally been able to make some lasting friendships. When a handsome, mysterious boy comes to town, Indiana knows something is not right. He might end up her ally, or she might end up in the fight of her life.

Jennifer's Review:

The main character in this book is Indy: strong, witty, feisty fallen angel that was banished from Heaven and forced to live on Earth in the body of a 17 year old teenage girl. She spends her time attending high school, year after year after year -- ok so that is a punishment :-) On the side she helps her "brother" with his investigations. She has decided her purpose on Earth is to protect and defend women so she takes on cases where a man is guilty of harm to a woman (think abuse, rape, infidelity). She doles out her own means of punishment to the men -- which some or most of the punishments are definitely not "angelic". These unorthodox punishments earn her the interest of other angels and a "demon hunter". So then we come to Nate, at first I didn't really feel the love for him but as the story unfolds I really did start to like him. I’m anxious to see where Aria takes his character in the next book.

I love that Aria made Indy such a strong women - its great to read books with such a strong kick butt girl who fights for what she believes in!
I am thinking Rebekah from Vampire Diaries in my head as Indy:

Aria does the story from Indy's and Nate's point of view. It enables you to get into the mind of multiple characters. I will note that sometimes playing the same exact scene from 2 point of views was a little redundant. So while I like the POV change I don't think it has to be the exact same scenes but rather different ones so that the story can move faster as I was left a little unsatisfied when the book ended -it ended abruptly. But through seeing Nate's point of view is why I came to really enjoy his character and it is series so that explains why it wasn't moving too fast.

My favorite character was Conner -- Indy's best boy friend. I am hoping to see a romance between those blossom in the second book. He is a great, solid, good guy and in my opinion just what Indy needs to restore her faith in men. He is fiercely protective of her and loves her more than a friend but doesn't really know what to do about it.

So why I found the ending a little abrupt -- it does leave me wanting to read the next book in the series. There are a lot of questions I have that I hope are addressed in future books. It's a promising start to what could a great new series.
