Angie Stanton's ROYALLY LOST blog tour!

Title: Royally Lost

Author: Angie Stanton

Publisher: Harper Collins

Publication Date: May 6, 2014
Summary: Dragged on a family trip to Europe’s ancient cities, Becca wants nothing more than to go home. Trapped with her emotionally distant father, over-eager stepmother, and a brother who only wants to hook up with European hotties, Becca is miserable. That is until she meets Nikolai, a guy as mysterious as he is handsome. And she unknowingly finds herself with a runaway prince.

Nikolai has everything a guy could ask for-he's crown prince, heir to the throne, and girls adore him. But the one thing he doesn't have...is freedom. Staging a coup, he flees his kingdom and goes undercover on his own European tour.

When Nikolai and Becca meet, it’s their differences that draw them together. Sparks fly as they share a whirlwind of adventures, all the while dodging his royal guard. But Becca's family vacation ends in a matter of days. Will Nikolai and Becca be forced to say goodbye forever, will his destiny catch up to him, or will they change history forever?

Jennifer's Review:

This is a fun, light, relaxing read. The author's details to the setting really brought it to life. The romance is cliché at times but it was fun to read. I personally like a Happy Ever After ending and this delivered :-)

The Characters:

Nikolai --- the Prince of Mondovia who is sick of being a prince. He challenges the way its always been in his country and even questions the idea of a royal family who just lives off the people. He decides to run away to clear his head and escape Palace life.
Becca  -- College bound who is taking summer vacation with her family -- a river cruise in Europe. She doesn’t really want to be on this vacation with her "perfect" family and that is very clear (maybe too clear). Her family is her father who is a workaholic, her step- mother, and her brother. Even though her step-mother is nice and wants to pull the family together, and her father is trying to spend time with them Becca resents them. As a result, Becca takes every opportunity to ditch her parents and explore on her own.  Ultimately Becca is searching for a future that is not determined by her father. By the end of the book Becca's character experiences a well needed growth. She finds herself and figures out what she really wants in life.
Dylan - Becca's brother. We don't get much into Dylan but what we do see was very realistic for a sister/brother bond.

Becca and Nikoli meet by chance. Can Nikolai and Becca’s relationship last? Can they outrun the paparazzi and Nikolai's fathers' men? The book takes you through a trip across Europe through the eyes of Becca.

This was a light, feel good romance, insta love, easy read, which totally reminded me of ‘The Lizzie Maguire Movie’ except insert prince instead of pop star. The journey through Europe is an authentic one and that was refreshing account. Stanton provides plenty of historical background to the countries and landmarks that the characters travel through.

What I didn't like -- As a lover of traveling and especially Europe I thought Becca complained about being on vacation in Europe a little too much. I think it was supposed to reflect that she didn't want to be on a vacation with her parents but it really came off a bit spoiled that was annoyed that she has to experience culture, beauty, and history.

The story is very open - ended and maybe that's an opening to a second book? I felt as if this story had the potential to be a much better novel than it was -- with more depth and resolution. It's a story of growing up -- and while there was growth to the characters throughout the book just not as much as I expected or could of been.

BEFORE by Nicola Marsh Release Day Launch

Before
By: Nicola Marsh
Before Synopsis:
Good girls finish last? Screw that.

Being a small town girl isn’t so bad. Unless Mom’s the town joke and I’ve spent my entire life shying away from her flamboyance. College in Las Vegas should be so much cooler. But it’s not. Bad things happen. Real bad.

So when my brother Reid offers me an all-expenses paid vacation to Australia for a month, I am so there. Discounting the deadly snakes on the outback cattle station, I should be safe. Until I meet Jack.

Jack defines bad boy and then some. He’s big, buffed, bronzed, and hotter than any guy I’ve ever met. His sexy Aussie accent makes me melt. And the guy can cook.

But he’s my brother’s new bestie and he lives on the other side of the world. There’s no future for us.

Is there?

Jennifer's Review:
Nicola has written the prequel to here book BRASH --to show where it all began for Jess and Jack. Go back 10 years in the lives of Jess and Jack and see just how strong the bond is. So read this one first or if you have read BRASH already -- this is a great read so that you can see how their relationship was formed and what happened while Jess was vacationing in Australia! I personally have not read BRASH so the characters were completely fresh to me.

Nicola has a unique Australian voice and she tells a love story that has some great banter and the sexual tension in this is so thick not even the sharpest knife could cut through it.
The story tells of two main characters: Jess and Jack.

Jess -- a quiet , goody two shows who has had a traumatic event happen at college but in perfect timing her older brother, Reid offers to bring her along with him to Australia for the summer where she meets Jack. Jess has vowed to herself to have fun, throw caution to the wind, live a little on the edge. Jess is easy to relate to, she has a realness to her that just makes you like her.

Jack -- has had a tough childhood and has been moving around place to place as an adult. He vows to make a change to his life for the good. Meeting Jess's brother, Reid,  might be the thing that helps him change his life but where will Jess fit into all of this? I gotta say Jack drove me a little crazy the way he pushed Jess away -- I hope they actually get together in BRASH - so I am looking forward to that relationship going forward :-) Because when Jack isn't worried about not letting things go somewhere their relationship has an easiness and realness that works well.

Go get Brash the first in the series and the continue forward with  Jess and Jack's story! I really came to like Reid, the little we saw of him in this book then you can move on to read Reid and Adele's story in the second book, Blush!

I recommend this read for all fans of romance with a sweet, sexy and fresh new look at how it all began and ended before it began all over again !

EXCERPT:

Moving lightning fast, Dez shifted and I was suddenly underneath him. His arms were on either side of my head, caging me in. Our bodies didn’t touch, but I felt him to the tips of my toes anyway.

The teasing grin disappeared when I dragged in a deep breath and my chest brushed his. Everything changed in an instant. The playful mood faded, replaced by primal heaviness. Our gazes collided and locked. Neither of us moved. His closeness sent a series of shivers skittering across my skin and made it hard to take slow, even breaths. My body tensed when his gaze dropped to my mouth.

He tilted his head to the side. “I… I honestly have no idea what we were talking about.”

“Good. Neither do I.”

He shifted his weight onto one arm, bring him closer. “Have you enjoyed your trip so far?”

“Yes.” I felt as if I couldn’t get enough air into my lungs.

“Good.” He lowered his head. His breath was minty as it moved across my cheek and then my lips. “I’m glad.”

I wasn’t really following the conversation and I wasn’t sure that he was fully aware of what was coming out of his mouth. I searched my hazy brain for something to say and wet my lips. I-

The sound that came out of Dez’s chest rumbled through me. A stuttered heartbeat passed and then his lips were on mine. There was nothing slow about this kiss. It scorched my skin and caused my body to stretch tight like a bowstring. The kiss deepened, spinning my senses. I shuddered when his hand curved over my shoulder and drifted down to my waist, his long fingers spreading out under the hem of my shirt, grazing the bare skin of my stomach.

I gasped, floored by the raw sensations pounding through my blood. My skin felt as if I was about to phase. Maybe I was.

“Jasmine,” he whispered, the word falling against my lips, and then his body was pressing mine into the mattress, heavy, sweet and hard.

The Curse Keepers by Denise Grover Swank-Blog Tour Review & Giveaway

The wall between our world and that of vengeful spirits has protected humanity for more than 400 years. It’s about to come crashing down.

Ellie Lancaster has lived her whole life by the site of the mysterious Lost Colony of Roanoke, the Virginia settlement that vanished without a trace around 1590. Only the descendants of the two men who banished the spirits of an enemy tribe from the material realm know what really happened to the colony. Ellie is one of those descendants—a Curse Keeper. Her father took pains to teach her what he knew of the curse and the responsibilities of its guardians. He taught her that if the two Curse Keepers ever meet, the curse will be lifted, the gate will open, and the raging Native American spirits will be unleashed to seek their revenge.

Despite her father’s seriousness, Ellie has always taken the legend for a harmless fairy tale. Until she meets the darkly handsome, but downright infuriating, Collin Dailey and realizes everything she was told is true. For when they meet, it’s like the air is sucked from the room. Collin’s presence is electrifying… and it’s not just attraction Ellie feels, but the inexorable pull toward her destiny. The prophecy is real, and now Ellie and Collin must battle supernatural forces and their loathing—and passion—for each other to set things right.

The Curse Keepers are all that stand between the world and its destruction.

Jennifer's Review:

The Curse Keepers is a fun History/Mystery/Paranormal/Romance, YA novel. It is the first book in Denise's new series.
Ellie Lancaster is a descendant of the lost colony in Roanoke, Virginia that vanished without a trace in 1590. Being one of the descendants makes her a Curse Keeper. Her father took pains to teach her what he knew of the curse and the responsibilities of its guardians. He taught her that if the two Curse Keepers ever meet, the curse will be lifted, the gate will open, and the raging Native American spirits will be unleashed to seek their revenge. Unfortunately when Ellie was 8 her mother died and she blocked out everything she had learned of the responsibility she would someday carry.  Her mother did not believe in the curse and therefore she hasn't taken anything her father has told her about the supposed myth seriously.  The day Collin Dailey walks into the New Moon Diner where Ellie worked, both their lives changed forever. The two curse keepers have met and can they save themselves and the World.

The other Curse Keeper is Collin Dailey.  He has been preparing for the responsibility of his duties his whole life. Collin is what appears to be a bad boy determined to use Ellie the curse that they both inherited. So for me Collin was kinda annoying --he didn't answer any of Ellie's questions -- I think it's quite natural that some might have forgotten or not taken their task to learn all about it as seriously as others. But Collin is full of contempt for Ellie because he thinks she' being irresponsible to her heritage - the curse keeper. And even though it's clear that she is in grave danger he won't even tell her how to protect herself? I couldn't really understand that. So even though he changes in the second half of the novel, I still couldn't completely get over my dislike of him from the beginning of the story.

The humor and banter between Collin in Ellie was fun to read. They don't trust each other and it is apparent -- I would even go as far to say that they despise each other in the beginning. They choose to keep one another in the dark -- this I found annoying -- I mean hello, the fate of the World is in your hands -- its not the time for secrets.

While spending time together they start to get to know each other. They realize there is more to the other then they initially thought and that they may have made some wrong assumptions. They begin to trust one another and Ellie begins to believe in the curse. She knows that is up to them to make sure the gate stays closed. It is a race against time. The one thing these two share is a passion to accomplish what is meant to happen. The story took plenty twists, turns, intense danger, mystery and suspense.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Denise Grover Swank was born in Kansas City, Missouri and lived in the area until she was nineteen. Then she became a nomadic gypsy, living in five cities, four states and ten houses over the course of ten years before she moved back to her roots. She speaks English and smattering of Spanish and Chinese which she learned through an intensive Nick Jr. immersion period.  Her hobbies include witty Facebook comments (in own her mind) and dancing in her kitchen with her children. (Quite badly if you believe her offspring.)  Hidden talents include the gift of justification and the ability to drink massive amounts of caffeine and still fall asleep within two minutes. Her lack of the sense of smell allows her to perform many unspeakable tasks.  She has six children and hasn’t lost her sanity. Or so she leads you to believe.

EXCERPT:

I held out my right palm and gasped. While the pink of the burn mark was fading, the harsh lines of a square surrounding a circle seemed to be darkening. I didn’t remember anything about what the mark was or what it meant from the stories. Why hadn’t I asked Daddy yesterday? Why had I been so stubborn in my disbelief? When I thought about how real this all was, my stomach flip-flopped from nerves. How was Ellie Lancaster, waitress and maid from Manteo, North Carolina, going to save the world?

Unfortunately, the answer was sitting at a table in the New Moon, staring right at me.

A slow smile spread across his face, and my stomach performed more acrobatics that had nothing to do with the curse, and everything to do with the hormones rushing through my body. I needed to get a grip and stop acting like a teenage girl with a crush. I needed to save the world. Not find a boyfriend.

Although a boyfriend would be a nice side benefit.

As I walked toward him, I reminded myself that Collin was not boyfriend material. It didn’t take a genius to see that Collin Dailey was a love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy. He was a guy used to getting his way with the charm he exuded now. It was easier to catch a fly with honey, and I was currently Collin’s fly.

I stopped next to his table, trying to keep my face expressionless. If he was going to use his sexier-than-hell charm on me, I might as well make him sweat a bit. I put my hand on my hip and jutted it out while piercing him with my most withering gaze. Lesser men had tucked their tails and run, but Collin simply stared back, the corners of his mouth lifted in the barest hint of a smile. Damn him. “Can I get you something?”

His eyes narrowed seductively, and his voice lowered. “You know what I want.”

Holy shit. If I’d thought he meant what he insinuated, I might have had a mini orgasm on the spot. But last night Collin had made sure I understood what he was interested in, and it had nothing to do with the parts of me under my clothes that begged for attention.

How in the hell was I going to survive five days with this guy? My only hope was to shut the spirit world gate as quickly as possible.

EXCERPT:

I move the pillow and look at him, overheating instantly at the sight of his mouth and the memory of what he just did with it. I can’t help but wonder how people do these intimate things to each other and then go on with life business as usual. Pass the salt and all that.
“You are the most dangerous kind of beautiful,” he says, brushing my messy hair away from my face.
I can only imagine what a wreck I look like after that, but with the way he smiles at me, he must actually think I am beautiful right now. I lean in and kiss his mouth. I can taste myself on his lips. It’s kind of strange and kind of a turn on. I pull at his lower lip with my teeth and he groans.
His voice is raspy against my mouth. “You even taste like peaches, sweet like I knew you would be.”
“What do you taste like, Landen?” I ask, as my sex voice woman comes back to me. “And more importantly, what’s with all the clothes?”

Sweet Surrendering by Chelsea M. Cameron Top Ten & Giveaway

Sweet Surrendering by Chelsea M. Cameron
From Goodreads

She’s his boss. He doesn’t care. This office isn’t big enough for the two of them…

When Rory Clarke ends up hiring the guy she spent one steamy night with to be her administrative assistant, she's determined to keep things professional.

Lucas Blaine has other plans for her. He wants Rory, and it’s hard to resist his stunning blue eyes, chin dimple and the way he fills out a suit. Everywhere she looks, there he is, giving her a panty-melting smile and pulling her away for the most amazing (and satisfying) sex she’s ever had in her life.

What starts off as one sexual encounter turns into multiple trysts in and out of the office and the lines she’d tried to draw so carefully are blurring. But the closer they get, the more Rory realizes that there are things about Lucas she doesn’t know, things he’s hiding from her. She’ll have to decide if she can surrender to her feelings or get out while she still can.

Top Ten Facts You Don't Know About Sweet Surrendering

10. Sloane Harris' name is the composite of two fictional people: Sloane, Ferris Bueller's girlfriend and Xander Harris from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
9. Rory is partially named after Rory Gilmore.
8. I used the name Lucas in the first book that I ever wrote, but didn't publish. I liked the name so much I wanted to use it again.
7. The cover was made by me even before the book was written.
6. The sticky note scene was one of the first scenes that popped into my head when I started writing.
5. I didn't intend for there to be a connection between Lucas' nickname for her of Sunshine, and her full name, Aurora, which means sunrise.
4. I ate truffle mac and cheese because I like to eat what my characters eat. Couldn't find a truffle pizza though.
3. All of Sloane's designs, with the exception of Rory's ball gown came directly from my imagination. No visual inspiration needed.
2. My mother sews women's clothing for a living, so I drew on my knowledge of that, and it helped inspire Sloane's character.
1. Lucas was the first redheaded guy I ever wrote, and he is NOT based on any real person. At least not anyone I've known.

Excerpt:

The announcer started to introduce him, but Lucas whispered in his ear, and then the announcer spoke into the mic. “Our next act is Lucas Blaine. Give him a hand everyone.”

Lucas pulled a stool forward and adjusted the mic as Sloane and Marisol talked about the various sexual things they’d like to do to him. Chloe just stared into her drink.

“Do you want to go?” I asked her, hoping she’d say yes so I had an out.

She shrugged.

“I’m good for now.” Crap.

I decided that I wasn’t going to watch. Nope.

But then the bastard started singing, “Sooner Surrender” by Matt Nathanson and my head snapped around at the sound of his voice.

Oh, f*ck me. Again.

His eyes were half closed, his hair falling in front of them. And his voice. Oh, his voice touched me in places that a voice shouldn’t have access to.

His voice crawled down my body and under my clothes and teased me, taunted me, pleasured me. Like he was making love with music.

Alcohol. It had to be the alcohol causing me to be more turned on by a song than I’d ever been before. Everything else faded into the background as my entire being focused on him on that stage.

The song ended, and the spell was broken, almost with a snap, and I was back to reality.
