Feature and Follow Friday!! #TeamAdrian Special Edition!

Check out Parajunkee & Alison Can Read for more information on this Friday blog hop and to sign up and join the fun.

This week an activity:

Bookselling Time: Go to your biggest bookcases. Go to the second shelf from the top and pick out the sixth book from the left. Hardsell that book to us – even if you haven’t read it or if you hated it. (if you don’t have bookcases, don’t have six books on one shelf, etc, pick a book at random)

So, I have been looking for that next series that I just can't put down. You know the one...the book with the character you dream about at night, the one that you race home to read and turn down plans with EVERYONE because you HAVE TO KNOW what will happen?!?! Basically I needed my next Covenant, Lux, Mortal Instruments type series.

My co-blogger Jen has been telling me to read Bloodlines for a while now. I wasn't the biggest Vampire Academy fan. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it and read every book, but it wasn't in my top five. (Sorry, I just didn't like Rose very much).

But there was one thing I truly adored about Vampire Academy...Adrian. Seriously, he made that series for me. I was angry (total understatement) at how his story ended. I was so ticked off it made me actually like the series just a little bit less and hate...well. Nevermind, I don't want to ruin things for anyone.

But anyway, I realized I NEEDED to read more about him. Things HAD to turn around for him. He deserved so much more than he was given at the end of the Vampire Academy series.

Well, Bloodlines does not let down. HEEEELLLLLOOOOOO ADRIAN! Holy peaches I love this guy. He just melts my heart. Yes he's a bit messed up, and definitely slightly misunderstood, and of course given bad rap that he didn't deserve (yes he SO did). But, *sigh* those eyes. And his adorable and witty remarks. How can you not love him?

As much as Adrian just brings out my inner seventeen-year-old, I have to admit that really like Sydney too. I enjoyed her in Vampire Academy, but in Bloodlines, just wow. She is so different from most female leads. I love her OCD and perfectionist ways. I love her social inadequacy. I actually WANT her to open her eyes and see just how much Adrian cares for her.

There is NO insta-love here. Not with Sydney. The poor girl wouldn't recognize a guy crushing on her if he walked up and licked her face. But you can't not love her. She's a breath of fresh air. She actually is perfect (just ask all of her teachers), beautiful, and just an all around kind and amazing girl (don't you just hate her?). But it's who she is. She actually STANDS for something and BELIEVES in something. I love that.

And her growth through the series is phenomenal! Watching her start to question things and discover who she is...well it's just fantastic.

I can't say enough about this series. For me everywhere Vampire Academy faltered, Bloodlines gets it right. Adrian is real, he's flawed, and he's amazing. SWOON! Sydney I real, she's flawed, and she' amazing. And the supporting characters are full of their own antics and stories.

This is the series I needed right now. The one that I am DYING to read the next book. This is my favorite thing about reading. I love when I get this passionate about a book. I love the anticipation and emotions that go along with the wild roller coaster. If you loved Alex and Aidan (I can't believe Covenant is over....where is Seth's book???), or you are dying to find out what happens to Kat and Daemon, or you wish Tessa and Will's story never ended...get started on this series....NOW!

So, who's with me??

I can't wait to see what y'all "sell" me on! Happy Friday and as always, Stay Gold!

  2. I agree! I love Blodlines so much, and The Fiery Heart was truly awesome. Adrian is the best character, and Sydney's change is very well done!

    1. I am starting that one tonight! I read the first three over the Thanksgiving holiday. I wasn't the biggest Vampire Academy fan (I liked it, just not my fave), so I almost passed on this one. But my co-blogger insisted Bloodlines was way better. I couldn't agree more. Adrian is amazing!

    1. Doooo iiiiittttt! Personally, I think Bloodlines is way better than VA. Don't get me wrong, I love Dimitri, but Sydney is a much better heroine than Rose. (I just can't forgive Rose for hurting Adrian no matter how much she needed to be with Dimitri) ;)

I loved Adrian in VA and this series has been amazing. Sydney and Adrian make such a real couple that you never stop rooting for! I will be counting the days for the next one because RM likes to end her books with some serious excitement...
