Mortal Enchantment
“Mortal Enchantment spins a unique twist on elemental mythology. This series is not to be missed.” Jennifer L. Armentrout, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author
In Kalin Matthew's world, elementals control the forces of nature. They are divided into four courts: air, woodland, fire, and water. At sixteen she will leave the life she's built with her mortal mother. Kalin will move to Avalon to rule with her father—the elemental king of the air court. Along the way, she's attacked by a fire court assassin and saved by Rowan, a swoon-worthy elemental with a questionable past.
Worst of all, she learns her father is missing.
To rescue him, Kalin will have to work with a judgmental council and a system of courts too busy accusing each other of deceit to actually be able to help her. But, they aren’t her biggest challenge. With the Midwinter’s Ball only five days away, Kalin must take over her father’s duties, which includes shifting control of the elements—power Kalin has yet to realize.
As Rowan attempts to train her, a war looms between the four courts. If Kalin fails, her father will die and the courts will fall, but the betrayal she’s about to uncover may cost her even more...

Feature & Follow Friday

Check out Parajunkee & Alison Can Read for more information on this Friday blog hop and to sign up and join the fun.

This week a question.

Tell us about a book that you didn’t like and why we shouldn’t read it (as nicely and respectfully as possible)

Ok, I admit it. I didn't like The Hunger Games.

*hides*

Truth be told, it depressed the ever-living daylights out of me. I had trouble sleeping I was so upset over it. I forced myself to get through the first one, but chickened out on the other two. I ended up reading the synopsis for both though because I wanted to know what happened. And just reading that still depressed me.

Now don't get me wrong, I think it's written incredibly well and that Suzanne Collins is full of amazing creativity. And technically she wrote something that truly affected me. That's pretty darn powerful. But I just couldn't get through it. I love a good dystopian, and yes I know there will be death and destruction...duh. But this one just brought me down way too much.

Hawthorne by Sarah Balance Excerpt & Giveaway

HawthorneHawthorne by Sarah Ballance

After a terrifying encounter with the unexplained, it takes ten years and the news of her grandmother’s passing for Emma Grace Hawthorne to return to her childhood home. She seeks peace in saying a proper goodbye, but what she finds is an old love, a sordid family history, and a wrong only she can right. Living in the shadow of Hawthorne Manor, Noah Garrett has never forgotten about Emma Grace. In a house full of secrets, his search for missing documents reveals a truth that can cost him everything. What he finds gave Emma the freedom to walk away from the mansion, her heart free and clear, but at what price to Noah?

Praise for Hawthorne
"This is a marvelous ghost story. The mystery, the suspense, the eeriness - all collaborate to weave a spell-binding tale . . . The story seamlessly flows to a shocking ending that is utterly brilliant." -- Coffee Time Romance
"When I finished it, honestly, all I could do was sit there - a little awestruck." -- Kick Back & Review

Hawthorne will be FREE on Amazon from April 10th to 14th

Excerpt from Hawthorne

Noah closed in on the convertible, giving the nearby grounds a cursory look. The lawn was meticulous, the beds overflowing with sprays of purple garden phlox which trailed around the bend in the road and disappeared. A riot of white and rust-red irises backed the smaller purple flowers, their leaves deep green and glossy. Overhead, Spanish moss swayed only occasionally atop a maze of live oak, more likely a result of a passing swarm of insects than an actual air current. The land was still. If there were tourists snapping photos of the historic plantation — or doing anything else — he didn't see them. But someone had been there. The car was certainly real, even if that too-familiar scream had been a figment of his imagination. Wasn’t it always? Resigned to another night alone with his memories, Noah pivoted. And found himself nose to nose with Emma Grace. Astounded, he opened his mouth, then closed it. He wanted to reach for her, but his arms refused the notion; they hung uselessly by his sides, the effort futile. His mouth wasn't much on cooperation, either. Finally, he found his tongue.

"Em—" Her expression cut him off.

Green eyes wide, skin pale, her small frame shaking, she spoke. "I saw her, Noah. She's back."

The words, nearly soundless, seemed to catch in the thick air. Lingering. Threatening. And ripping the heart from his chest.

sarahAuthor Sarah Ballance

Sarah and her husband of what he calls “many long, long years” live on the mid-Atlantic coast with their six young children, all of whom are perfectly adorable when they’re asleep. She never dreamed of becoming an author, but as a homeschooling mom, she often jokes she writes fiction because if she wants anyone to listen to her, she has to make them up. (As it turns out, her characters aren’t much better than the kids). When not buried under piles of laundry, she may be found adrift in the Atlantic (preferably on a boat) or seeking that ever-elusive perfect writing spot where not even the kids can find her. She loves creating unforgettable stories while putting her characters through an unkind amount of torture—a hobby that has nothing to do with living with six children. (Really.) Though she adores nail-biting mystery and edge-of-your-seat thrillers, Sarah writes in many genres including contemporary and ghostly paranormal romance.

Ringer "The Summer Series" by C.J. Duggan

Book Title: Ringer

     Release Date: March 18th 2014

     Genre: Contemporary New Adult
Cover Designer: Keary Taylor - Website

        Pre Order Forever Summer

Ringer: Synopsis

They say it’s the quiet ones you have to worry about, and she was quiet, very quiet—when she wasn’t busy despising me with a burning passion.

Ringo ‘Ringer’ James has a no-strings-attached policy.

Love them, leave them, and remain the eternal bachelor.

After a summer in which every one of his mates has succumbed to settling down, or so it seemed, Ringer is on the lookout for a quick exit. Having had enough of the stomach-turning love fest witnessed over the past three months, Ringer jumps at the opportunity to help out his mate, Max, by heading to Max’s dad’s property for a working holiday.

It’s just what he’s looking for. A remote, dusty homestead in Ballan, with only hard work, a cold beer and a comfy bed to worry about – no women.

Until Miranda Henry.

The privately educated daughter of his boss has returned home from overseas and things are about to get very complicated, very fast. As summer draws to its end, Ringer is about to learn that sometimes attraction defies all logic, and that there really is such a thing as ‘enemies with benefits.’

Ringer is Book #4 in C.J’s mature young adult SUMMER SERIES, a series filled with intoxicatingly sweet romances and addictive, swoon worthy characters. The Summer Series is set in Onslow and it is here where you will meet the ruggedly handsome Onslow Boys - a group of men SO HOT in appearance and so likable in personality that’ll leave you craving MORE. Now imagine that, set it against a sizzling hot Australian background, fill it with good old Australian humour and there you have the Summer Series!

Jennifer's Review:

I really adore C.J.'s Summer series! You can find my review of the previous book in this series, That One Summer  Jennifer's Review of THAT ONE SUMMER.  This is a novella about another one of the gorgeous Onslow Boys --one that we didn't really get to hear much about in the previous books.

Ringer is "annoyed" with his friends and romance in general. Most of the Onslow boys have girlfriends now and he just doesn't get what these relationships are doing to his "boys" :-). We met those girlfriends, boys, and relationships in the previous books (this is a stand alone book so you don't have to read the other books but trust me once you read one you will want to dig into each boys story!). Book 1 centered on Toby, Book 2 -  Sean Book 3-Chris, and now Ringer.   When his friend Max mentions his Dad needs help at the ranch, Ringer jumps at the chance to escape Onslow and his friends for a bit. Here is where he meets Miranda, Max’s sister.
Miranda --Well I have to say out of all the girls we met in the other series she was my least favorite. But that being said I am glad that each girl had their own distinct personality - so of course every one wasn't going to be my favorite and I wouldn't change Miranda as I think Ringer needed someone like her. Miranda initially comes off as a spoiled BRATTY SNOB -- but as we get to know her better we see that's a defensive mechanism. She is definitely bold, sassy, stubborn, and reckless.  She finally realizes this (which redeemed her in my eyes) and I will be anxious to see how she and Ringer are doing in the next book in this series. All that being said she really was the perfect match to Ringer. The chemistry between Miranda was off the charts and their banter was hysterical.

Ringer - Well what can I say -- mmm... Goodness...He is a good guy at heart (like all the Onslow boys) but definitely the roughest/crudest of the bunch. With that roughest definitely comes alot of sex appeal and in turn this was the steamiest book so far ;-)
My favorite thing about Ringer: That he gave Miranda a taste of her own medicine.

The rest of the Onslow boys drop in for a visit and I LOVED that!!!!

A super cute part of the book is comparing the beginning to the end :-)

Those of you who are already addicted to this series (like me) will love this novella. I personally can't wait for the next story - Adam & Ellie they hold a special place for me from book #1!

Check out my review of That One Summer about my  personal favorite Onslow Boy - CHRIS!
